2016 Angeles Independent School Endowment Symposium
Thank you to everyone for making the 2016 Angeles Independent School Endowment Symposium a thought-provoking event for our community. For anyone who missed it, we hope to see you at our symposium in 2017.
Capital Market Overview
We kicked off our symposium with a review of capital markets, both where they’ve been (including 5,000 years of interest rate data) and where they are headed. Several major themes emerged from CIO Michael Rosen’s overview. We are likely at a transition from a long bull market in fixed income to a period of rising rates that risks losses. Equity market conditions do not appear over-valued and are supported by decent cyclical conditions. Overall returns are likely to be lower than in past periods, and there is risk that inflation perks up.
Best Practices for Independent School Community Relations
Our symposium panel highlighted ways that independent schools can be both good neighbors and outstanding educational environments. While the daily comings and goings of a vibrant campus can test communities, there are “best practices” that can mitigate these.
You can follow our thoughts on the conditions affecting your portfolios by visiting our Articles & Insights pages.
